Reliable, a must have while traveling.
This Hotspot saved us in Japan. We used it for translations, directions and wi-fi calling! We would have been goners. I'm extremely happy I got the unlimited package as my companions are social media addicts and needed to upload their life 'this instant'. I don't know how we would have made it to Hakone or navigated the metro system in Tokyo those first few days. Thank you Japan Wifi Buddy! I will be taking you with me on my next adventure into the Land of the Rising Sun.

WiFi worked pretty well but would turn off randomly
WiFi pickup was easy as well as the return! The WiFi itself has a pretty short battery life but we were also given a portable charger by WiFi buddy to compensate. My one complaint was that the portable WiFi would suddenly turn off for no reason at least a few times a day.

Super experience from A-Z
Though you can rent similar hotspots upon arrival, they are a bit more expensive. I found the service with WiFiBuddy to be exceptional all around. An absolute must when traveling around Japan!

Worked perfectly while I was
Worked perfectly while I was in Tokyo and Osaka, as well as on the train ride in between. Speeds were fast and service was available everywhere I went. I would definitely use Wifi Buddy again.

Great service but heavy throttling
Overall the service was great and well priced. But after the LTE would run out we were just left with a heavily throttled 3G. I expected more useable speeds for 3G.

  • We include thorough instructions, via email, through our website and with customer service.
  • These are data-only SIM Cards. Carrier-based voice calls and text messaging are NOT supported. However, data-based messaging and telephony solutions such as Skype, Facetime, Whatsapp, Line etc. are supported.
  • To avoid provider validation complications, in some cases when users order far ahead of their actual trip, we will send a confirmation email, with a separate QR code later on, closer to the departure date.
