Used this with my partner while at Japan. Definitely not for videos (but why need those while adventuring about?), but it still kept out boredom with fb, email, and reddit browsing while on lengthy train rides (some trains had Wifi.. and others did but didn’t work/too slow). Even so, Japan’s train views are beautiful. Wifibuddy worked well for map apps relying on Wifi. About twice did our Wifi buddy get real slow, but usually while passing certain mountainous train tunnels in Arashiyama Kyoto. Otherwise, would rent again during our next Japan visit. Loved how easy it was to return the pocket Wifi at Narita Airport’s postal bins. They had a small set of directions, stuck the return envelope in your pickup envelope, and did the addressing for you. The contents were also very kawaii lol.

Great support team, all in english, was really helpfull and available at all time.

Excellent choice! Though I ordered the service a few days before my arrival in Japan, the "buddy" was waiting for me at my hotel upon check in. Easy to use and great coverage and battery life. Any questions I had were quickly answered via email the same day. While the unit ran a little warm, it was never a problem. This will be my go-to service when I return to Tokyo in a few months (there might be a service that offers coverage over a larger area in Japan; I'm not sure about who that vendor might be)

I rented the Diamond WifiBuddy for 21 days when in japan, Easy to setup and use, great battery life, extra cables and battery. the only down side is that even though its the "Diamond" WifiBuddy I never saw above 25mb/s download speed (tested in open area, on top of buildings, on top of mountains, in the train), because of this I could never do (reliable) video calls with family overseas or watch high quality youtube videos (luckily most hotels have good wifi). maybe an optional antenna that we can plug into the "antenna port" on the device to get good reception (speed) when needed would be cool.

The Platinum WiFiBuddy was perfect for the two of us during our two-week stay. It's an excellent, stress-free way to stay connected no matter where you are!

The pick up (Narita Airport Post Office) and drop off (same post office) was extremely convenient. The hardware itself was small and compact so easy to carry around. There were times when the wifi was weak or did not work altogether but generally speaking, it was fairly reliable.

Our signal worked 95% of time and it was fast. I wish we could do this all over the world. Only place it didn't work was when we were in remote area called Naruko but then it was okay rest of our 2 week trip.

Well worth it, our trip would've been a nightmare without it. Japan wifi buddy's customer service was AWESOME. Any issues, questions, they're willing to help. Things happen! And it was comforting to know that there was someone to help if needed.

No issues. There was no real need for unlimited WIFI but that was the only choice available. Postbox at Kansai Airport Departure Hall International (Level 4) was not able to fit the return package. Had to go down to post office on level 2.

Great product, easy to use and easy pick up and drop off.

Would highly recommend getting a WifiBuddy while traveling through Japan, always had service, never lost signal. It was a huge help to have WiFi to get train schedules on my phone.

I was a bit nervous as I had never used this service before. It was better than expected! All instructions are easy to follow and I was emailed everything I needed to collect the package from the airport before my departure. The instructions to mail it back were very helpful too. The connection speed was fast and helped us so much! The battery life was excellent and the portable battery was super useful! What a great experience - thank you Japan WifiBuddy! I'll definitely use the service again next time im in Japan!

Picking up and dropping off pocket wifi is very easy and hassle free. Internet speed is very acceptable. The price is reasonable too.

Super convenient, my Japan WifiBuddy was waiting for me at the airport post office. They give you a return envelope in the package. It was a lifeline in figuring out where to go and I don't know what I would've done without it.

Rented this little gem for my two week stay in Japan. We were traveling with another couple so we had as many as four devices using it at one time. Let me tell you, this thing did not skip a beat! It worked flawlessly! From downloading email, using Google maps, to using the internet, this thing really did the trick. Great battery life and quick to charge. With this neat little package showing up at my hotel when I arrived, It was so convenient. Thanks Japan WiFiBuddy! Must have if you’re travelling to Japan and a heavy user ie. social media, streaming music and or movies. Definitely will use this service again when I return to Japan.

Picked my pocket wifi at the airport. Switched it on and it worked right from the start. I had no issues with it even when using large amounts of data. If you're using it all day make sure to charge it with the battery pack that's included. Will definitely use again.

Very easy to set up and I did not have any troubles.

The company was really great. Package was ready for pick up and the communication before and after is great. I wish I had paid closer attention to the details though. I would have gotten the next package up with the faster speeds. Battery lasted long and the extra charger was great to have. Signal was great in all areas we visited. Google maps worked fine and even Pokemon go at the same time. Long time to upload videos or pictures but wifi calling was fine too. Would completely recommend them as your go to mobile wifi company in Japan.

Used it literally every day and when I met with other travellers I would add them to the hotshot. Definitely made the trip infinitely better. Just now that it gets hour and will need a backup battery if you go out for more than 8 hours.

This was so easy and convenient every traveler should use it when visiting Japan. I was a bit confused when I got the pocket wifi but emailed customer service and they responded immediately. 10/10
