Great Experience
I was in Japan for 3 weeks including cities and rural areas. My internet speed was always fast and I only lost connection a couple times: once in the mountains and once or twice on the subway. The device would usually run out of battery in the evening but just hook it up to a portable charger (I used my own but they provide one too) and you're good to go. Needless to say, I was quite satisfied with the performance of the device and the ease of pickup and drop off. If I ever go to Japan again, I will for sure be renting from Japan WifiBuddy again!

I've visited Japan multiple times and used multiple pocket-wifi services. This is my first time using Japan WifiBuddy and I am definitely going to use them again next time. I used the diamond wifibuddy which is cheaper than most of their competitors' lower tiered options. It really is unlimited bandwidth with no throttling (used more than 10GB/3 days while in Tokyo) and the coverage really is top notch. I had high speed internet throughout Hakone and Numazu, even Uchiura-mito which is pretty far away from any dense city.

  • Requires a SIM Unlocked device with esim capability. If your device is locked, please contact your carrier to unlock it.
  • We include thorough instructions, via email, through our website and with customer service.
  • These are data-only SIM Cards. Carrier-based voice calls and text messaging are NOT supported. However, data-based messaging and telephony solutions such as Skype, Facetime, Whatsapp, Line etc. are supported.
  • To avoid provider validation complications, in some cases when users order far ahead of their actual trip, we will send a confirmation email, with a separate QR code later on, closer to the departure date.
